Meta-Learning, or Learning To Learn
This is basically an announcement of a new page in my personal website called for docs. You can find it in the navbar. It’s built using Docusaurus and hosted by the magnanimous Github.
The idea is that I will write my learning notes there (maybe even move some of the more technical essays from here).
The goal is to use language model tool like NotebookLM to generate quizzes and flashcards for me.
I’ve built there some cool things like auto-posts from my Gists, and it has built-in support for source code, math, diagrams, admonitions, etc.
Recently, I’ve been thinking a lot about learning to learn. This is a really important skill, not transferable between different domains, and that I’ve mostly overlooked.
I’m using the word “learning” here, but what I really mean is practicing with the goal of improving. In my mid-30s I’m not really interested in things that don’t develop me somehow, but I also don’t want to develop at any rate. It’s important to develop in a way that’s measurable, enjoyable, non-regrettable, and most importantly neither too easy nor too hard.
